The Graduate School is pleased to announce
that in 2012-13, up to nine outstanding master’s students will be
recognized with the Auburn University Graduate School’s Master’s Thesis
Awards and ETD Master’s Thesis Awards.
The application process, selection criteria,
and award categories are modeled after the Conference of Southern
Graduate Schools’ Master’s Thesis Awards and ETD Master’s Thesis Awards,
so that selected award-winners from Auburn may also be nominated for
these regional awards at the appropriate time.
Thus the Master's Thesis Awards fields of competition for 2012-13 will be Math, Physical Sciences and Engineering and Humanities and Fine Arts; for 2013-14: Life Sciences, Social Sciences, & Business and Education.
The ETD Master’s Thesis Awards are awarded
annually, and all disciplines are eligible.
Winners of the award will be recognized at
the Graduate School’s annual awards ceremony with an honorarium of $250
and a citation. Upon the recommendation of the Awards Committee,
the Graduate School may nominate winners of the awards for the
Conference of Southern Graduate Schools’ Master Thesis Awards and ETD
Master’s Thesis Awards.
Each college/school is invited to select and
nominate up to three students (in each award category as appropriate)
for the Graduate School awards. Each participating college/school
should identify a liaison, who will receive nominations at the
college/school and forward the application packets of the finalists to
the Graduate School. Please report the name of the liaison to the
Graduate School by November 15, 2011. Nominations are first
received and reviewed at the college level; up to three finalists from
each college/school may then be forwarded to the Graduate School for the
competition.
Nomination forms are attached, along with
Instructions for Nomination in the fields of competition for 2012-2013:
Math/Physical Sciences/Engineering and Humanities and Fine Arts.
Nomination instructions for the annual ETD Master’s Thesis Award are
attached as well.
